Yes: A Reflection On Desire, 2018, sound installation
This workpresents a recording of a voice repeating the word ‘yes’ over and over again. The relentless ‘yes’ seeks to know desire while considering the complexities of consent. The implied eroticism and eerie vulnerability mirrors the fragility of one’s relationship with the sensual self; the disembodied, drone-like character reveals the relentlessness of the underlying ambivalence in the relationship between self-perception and desire.
This work was produced during my time at KunstortELEVEN Artspace in Börstingen, Germany as an artist in residence in June 2017.
